It was a rough night for the top ten as they covered hits from American Idol’s past winners on last night’s show. While Nicki Minaj decided to arrive fashionably late to the judges panel (a first in Idol history), the show went on without her. Of course, she didn’t disappoint once she hit the stage chewing gum and rocking a hoodie and sunglasses. Classy.

It certainly looks like our next American Idol winner may be a Latino! The top 10 were revealed during last night’s performance, and it was bitter sweet. While we had to say adios to Tenna Torres and Elijah Liu, Devin Velez and Lazaro Arbos claimed their victory spots with full force.

Since his tear-inducing audition on this season of American Idol, Lazaro Arbos has captured America’s hearts with his tender voice, dapper style and oh-so-inspiring story.

The top 10 guys were serving up eye candy and romance during last night’s American Idol. Starting out the night was one of the judges’ favorites Elijah Liu, who had enough swag to seduce Nicki Minaj right off her seat (she did previously joke about wanting to have his baby after all).

In its 11-season run, American Idol has had only one Latino winner—proud part-Puerto Rican country singer Scotty McCreery (season 10)—which is why we rounded up 10 contestants we think deserved to win. So while we root for season 12's Breanna Steer, Tenna Torres, Lazaro Arbos, Devin Velez, and Elijah Liu and continue to mourn the elimination of mariachi songstress Victoria Acosta, check out our list of Idol winners.

Las Vegas was all about female power on last night’s American Idol! The top ten graced the stage as voting was finally opened up to fans at home. The infamous Zoanette kicked things off with a karaoke-worthy performance of Tina Turner's "What's Love Got to Do With It," which the judges painfully laughed at. Thankfully, that was just the start of the evening.

Sudden death round 2 delivered quite the soul last night on American Idol, when the guys battled it out for the top 10.
Cuban cutie Lazaro Arbos continued to break hearts with his story about growing up with a speech impediment and taking a job at an ice cream shop so he didn't have to do "smart people stuff like talking."
The crowd loved his rendition of Keith Urban's "Tonight I Wanna Cry," but ironically Urban himself wasn't a fan.

It was round two of sudden death on American idol last night and the ladies were up first again this week. We thought only one Latina remained (Tenna Torres) until a stunning performance of Jazmine Sullivan's "Bust Your Windows" by New Orleans native Breanna Steer drove judge Nicki Minaj to ask what her nationality was.
"I'm a lot of things," Steer said. "I'm Honduran, Black, Creole."
"You're giving me sexy on a stick," Minaj said to our newfound Latina.

It was time for the fellas to show their full potential on American Idol’s sudden death challenge last night. Ten guys graced the stage in Las Vegas for a chance to make it back to Hollywood, but only five made the cut.

American Idol introduced a new twist to narrow down their semi-finalists in the form of sudden death rounds. The 40 contestants remaining will brave it out on stage in Las Vegas in the hopes of making the top 20 and meeting the judges back in Hollywood, but only five out of ten will get chosen in the course of the next four episodes.
