Life in the United States changed forever on the morning of September 11, 2001, when Al-Qaeda terrorists crashed two jumbo jets into New York City’s World Trade Center, killing thousands. Another jet attacked the Pentagon, and a fourth came down in Pennsylvania. The trauma was greatest for those most immediately affected: survivors, family, friends and lovers. Ask them how they got through the past decade, and chances are they’ll say, “I don’t know,” or simply, “Love.”

With the Fall TV season starting next week (September 13th), we decided there was no better time to evaluate the diversity efforts of various TV networks (both broadcast & cable). Over the next couple of weeks, we'll be grading the networks (including FOX, NBC, CBS, HBO, and Showtime, among others), on how well (or not well) they feature Latino stars on primetime television. First up? ABC.

Last week, New York’s hippest venues were taken over by music lovers and music industry insiders for the annual Latin Alternative Music Conference, a gathering of the very best up-and-coming artists from Latin America. In it’s 12th year, the LAMC has grown from fringe festival to a see-and-be-seen event for anyone who wants to be on the cutting edge of alternative music. The fest has helped hundreds of artists, from Calle 13 to Manu Chao and even Pitbull, enter the consciousness of the global music scene.
