Shakira & "La Bamba" Classic In Pentatonix's 'Evolution of Music' (WATCH)

Pentatonix have made our day in a few minutes. The a cappella singing group (and former winners of The Sing-Off) dropped an awesome video this week titled “Evolution of Music,” which covers several centuries of music and famous artists in a little over four minutes. To our delight, Shakira’s famous 2006 song “Hips Don’t Lie” and the classic 50s song “La Bamba” are featured among other notable songs.

Shakira’s “Hips Don’t Lie,” which features Wyclef Jean, was the most successful song of 2006 worldwide, topping charts in everywhere from Australia to the superstar’s beloved Colombia. And tons more can be said about the beloved “La Bamba,” best known from the 1958 adaptation by the late Ritchie Valens, who was part of the rock and roll and Chicano rock movements.

“Evolution of Music” begins with the 11th century and ends in the present, with Carly Rae Jepsen’s infectious “Call Me Maybe.” Other notable artists that are featured in the video include The Beatles, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, and Beyoncé.
