Thalia’s sisters kidnapped

The immensely popular pop singer’s apparently charmed life was shattered briefly when her sisters, actress Laura Zapata and writer Ernestina Sodi, were kidnapped and held for a $5 million ransom, then released after 18 and 36 days, respectively. Zapata later said in an interview that Thalia had played a critical role in negotiating with the kidnappers for their release and for a lower ransom.
