Pop Culture: Shakira Waka Waka

Shakira Scores a Massive Hit with Her World Cup Song
She’s known for her Middle Eastern dance moves, but in 2010 Shakira got her African beat on when she released "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)," the official song for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Featuring South African band Freshlyground, the song proved to be a massive hit throughout the world. The funky, inspirational tune, which she performed at the 2010 FIFA World Cup Kick-Off concert and at the final, has sold more than four million copies worldwide—making it the best-selling and the fastest-selling World Cup anthem in the digital age.

She's a pop culture junkie who watches way too much television, and she still hoards magazines.
