Pop Culture: Scotty

Scotty McCreery Becomes the First Latino to Win Idol
It only took 10 seasons, but a Latino finally won American Idol last year. While many had come thisclose, it was baby-faced and deep-voiced country crooner Scotty McCreery—whose grandmother is Puerto Rican—who finally experienced the confetti drop during the show’s finale. His victory should come as no surprise though! Like Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood before him, McCreery never found himself in the ure bottom two or three during the course of the season and he sailed straight into the final!
