Pop Culture: Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez’s Grey's Anatomy musical episode

No you weren’t hallucinating! During one of last season’s episodes of Grey’s Anatomy, Sara Ramirez’s character Dr. Callie Torres and the rest of the cast singing tunes like The Fray's "How to Save a Life," Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars" and Brandi Carlile's "The Story." It was all part of the highly touted Grey's Anatomy: The Music Event, which was treated as a hallucination in Callie's mind. The Tony winning actress/singer, who was actually invited to join Grey's Anatomy after network execs saw her acclaimed performance in Broadway's Spamalot, was front and center. "I sing a little bit," said Kevin McKidd of his part in the episode. "I'm not like Sara Ramirez – she's pretty amazing! I mean, off the chart. She's a Tony Award winner for a reason, and the rest of us bask in her shadow."
