Pop Culture: Martin Sheen

Martin Sheen suffers heart attack while filming Apocalypse Now
The National Film Registry has deemed Apocalypse Now as "culturally, historically [and] aesthetically significant," but the epic war film had some significant drama off-screen. In particular, Martin Sheen suffered a heart attack during filming that left direct Francis Ford Coppola concerned! Worried that the studio would withdraw backing if news of Sheen's heart attack leaked, Coppola kept Sheen’s medical emergency quiet. He even explained Sheen's hospitalization as being due to "heat exhaustion" in the official shoot schedule. Luckily, Sheen’s heart attack was only minor and the show would go on to make him a star!

She's a pop culture junkie who watches way too much television, and she still hoards magazines.
