Paulina Rubio Confirmed as X Factor Judge! 7 Other Latina Reality TV Judges

The X Factor will soon welcome Paulina Rubio as one if its judges! Simon Cowell is bringing on both the Mexican pop star and former Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland to his judges table, FOX announced on Monday.

Cowell told media both women “have great taste and massive experience in the music industry and together with Demi [Demi Lovato], this is going to be a fun panel.”

But Paulina isn’t the first – and surely won’t be the last. Below is a look at some other Latina judges – both from the past and the present. Who is your favorite judge?

1. Reality Show Judges: Paulina Rubio

Paulina Rubio

The 41-year-old Chica Dorada has already served as a coach on La Voz Kids and will now be joining The X Factor as a judge. She has been in the Latin music limelight for decades, and recently expressed her excitement over being selected to join the judging table on Simon Cowell’s show. "I can't wait to find the next big music star here in America. I'm so thrilled to be part of the show as a judge,” she said. “Simon, be careful what you wish for, let's see if you are ready to handle me, empieza la fiesta, amigo! [start the party, friend!]."

2. Reality Show Judges: Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato

Though she’s only 20 years old, yet Demi Lovato joins some of music’s biggest names as a current judge on The X Factor. The singer/actress is known as a happy judge on the singing competition and, though Simon Cowell is more than twice her age, Lovato isn’t intimidated by him. We love her demeanor!

3. Reality Show Judges: Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez

J.Lo brought her encouraging words to contestants during two seasons of American Idol – and her fierce fashion flair. Much buzz surrounded the Boricua superstar with regards to her pay for the judging gig – a reported $20 million. In 2012, Lopez decided to leave the show to pursue other projects. “I could do Idol for the rest of my life," she told Ryan Seacrest, "but that would be giving up a bunch of other things ... I have my movies and my music and my this and my that. It all kind of worked together for a while, but then it gets more complicated.”

4. Reality Show Judges: Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey

With her extravagant diva flair, Mariah Carey has kept people glued to American Idol, especially when exchanging jabs with co-judge Nicki Minaj. She could have really been the sole judge – that would have been entertaining enough. Remember when she threw glitter on a contestant in praise? Glitter, people. Mariah is sooo extra – one big reason why we really can’t get enough of her.

5. Reality Show Judges: Christina Aguilera

The platinum blonde songstress spent some time on The Voice’s hot seat and is reportedly returning to her post for season 5 for a cool $12.5 million. Cue the rejoicing of Aguilera fans.

6. Reality Show Judges: Shakira

Shakira

The Colombian superstar brought her vocal expertise and fun energy this year as a coach on The Voice (and plenty of hilarious GIF material for the world to enjoy). Fans were saddened after news broke recently that the 36-year-old singer won’t be returning to the show next season. Instead, Shakira will focus on new music and being a mom to baby Milan. We’ll miss her, but it was better to have had Shakira on The Voice than not at all.

7. Reality Show Judges: Gloria Estefan

Gloria Estefan

The international legend served as our favorite celebrity mentor on CW’s The Next. Alongside rapper Nelly, singers Joe Jonas and John Rich, the cubana helped groom contestants for a chance at stardom. Estefan spoke to HuffPost TV about her involvement with the singing competition (which was executively produced by Queen Latifah) comparing it to The Voice. “We went the other day to The Voice to watch the taping and they have to make some very tough decisions, and I don’t know if I would be happy doing that,” she said, “let’s put it that way ... I don’t like to be critical, and any critique that I do have is always gonna be tempered with a lot of positive ways for them to be able to overcome.”

8. Reality Show Judges: Jenni Rivera

Jenni Rivera

The late Mexican American singer was a coach on La Voz... México [The Voice... Mexico] before she was tragically killed in a plane crash on December 9, 2012. The popular TV singing competition had to sadly go on without her
