Well, this took a turn. A woman in South Carolina walked into a county jail to report a crime, and instead was charged with one herself -- a warrant was issued nine years ago concerning a movie she failed to return after renting. The movie? Monster-in-Law, starring Jennifer Lopez.
Kayla Michelle Finley went to the Pickens Country Jail to report an unspecified crime to a police officer, and was then charged with the misdemeanor of "petite larceny" of "failure to return a video or cassette" after a video store owner had taken the matter to court nine years ago, reports Fox News.
According to her warrant, Finley reportedly was mailed several warnings and court documentation after taking the matter to court, but Finley claims she never received these mailings.
"It's obvious that Pickens County has nothing better to do," she told WHNS News. "I fully intend on fighting this, it's ridiculous I had this happen to me."
Police told the station that there was nothing they could do but serve the warrant. Finley served one night in jail.
