Godzilla roared into theaters this weekend and this new take on the 1954 Japanese monster classic is really making a name for itself among audiences nationwide.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the Warner Bros. film starring Bryan Cranston, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and featuring our favorite Dominican American Victor Rasuk, opened on Friday with a whopping $38.5 million. Thanks to its strong opening, Godzilla ended up raking in an estimated $93.2 million in tickets at North American theaters over the weekend.
The film reportedly cost $160 million to make -- an amount the studio should be making back in a matter of weeks.
