Modern Mami: 10 Ways My Baby Will Be Raised With Latino Culture
By Kristina Guerrero | 04/05/2013 - 16:38 | 0 Comments
I love that we live in a melting pot of cultures; white, black, brown, orange (I live in LA, so I’ve seen ‘orange’ people) — so many different kinds of people and we can’t wait to expose Baby Bean to all of it. But before we introduce him to sushi and Rosh Hashanah, we want him to be proud of his strong Mexican roots. My husband Gibby and I compiled a list of the cultural things we want to pass on to our little Vato Loco.
We laughed about some of the silliness, were reminded of crazy family members, and it brought back some fun memories. But more importantly, it reminded us just how proud we are to be second generation Mexican-Americans. We have the best of both worlds, and we get to pass down the best of both worlds to Baby Bean. Check out our list below:
Food
This whole list could just be based on food because we love us some Mexican food. Some of our favorites: chorizo, pappas, and egg tacos, tamales at Christmas, menudo on Sundays, pan dulce, fresh tortillas, barbacoa, and the list goes on. (Anyone else hungry?)
