Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj are saying farewell to American Idol.
The diva and (equally diva-esque) rapper are both leaving Fox's reality-singing competition show – and hopefully, the drama between each other.
43-year-old Carey herself hasn’t spoken out about leaving the hit show, but she did re-tweet a post on Thursday by her PMK•BNC reps, which announced her departure: “W/ global success of "#Beautiful" (#1 in 30+ countries so far) @MariahCarey confirms world tour & says goodbye 2 Idol.” The lone tweet has garnered more than 700 re-tweets, and fans didn’t seem too upset about Carey leaving Idol – just ecstatic about the songstress planning a world tour.
Fan @GoodEnough4U’s tweet said it all: “OMG IS IT TRUE MARIAH!! ARE YOU HAVING A WORLDTOUR?? :') PLEASE SAY YES.” Carey’s lambs clearly can’t get enough of her.
As for Minaj’s departure, the colorful rapper tweeted confirmation to her more than 16 million followers on Thursday night.
“Thank you American Idol for a life changing experience! Wouldn't trade it for the world! Time to focus on the Music!!! Mmmuuuaahhh!!!”
Both Minaj and the Grammy-winning Carey bumped heads numerous times during the taping of American Idol. Glad to see their drama hopefully end for good now that the two don’t have to sit on the same panel for days on end.
As Minaj stated, time to focus on the music.
