Cool Off With These Water Parks & Rides at Walt Disney World® Resort

Walt Disney World® Resort

I want to thank Disney for hosting my family and me at the Walt Disney World® Resort where we spent a magical time filled with pixie dust.

There is just something about water play that makes any vacation more fun and exciting. From fantastic pools at the Walt Disney World® Resort hotels and water rides in the theme parks to the amazing water parks, there are so many opportunities to have a splashing good time during your family vacation at Walt Disney World® Resort!

Walt Disney World® Theme Parks and Disney Resort Hotel Water Fun

Splash Mountain® Attraction at Magic Kingdom® Park was one of my favorite rides as a kid and now it’s one of my daughter’s favorites as well. With a thrilling 5-story drop and a good chance of getting wet, Splash Mountain® Attraction is always lots of fun. Kali River Rapids® Attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom® Theme Park wins as the ride where you will most likely get completely soaked as you speed along roaring rapids. When it comes to water play for the little ones be sure to check out the Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station at the Magic Kingdom® Park where your kids will have a wonderful time enjoying sprinklers, hoses and water jets, all in a safe area designed for them.

When we choose a Disney Resort hotel, we always look at the pools first as this is the single most important thing for my kids. They really enjoy spending time at the pool and love pools with fun slides. Our favorite slide is the Flying Jib slide at Stormalong Bay Pool  in Disney’s Yacht Club Resort & Disney’s Beach Club Resort, where kids get to slide from a shipwreck. This is also our favorite Walt Disney World® Resort pool because it has a sand bottom and you really feel like you are at the beach. At Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort you get to slide alongside the 50-foot pyramid of the sun at the fantastic Lost City of Cibola Pool and at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort you can slide through a volcano at the Lava Pool, how cool is that?!

Water Park Fun

When my family visits Walt Disney World® Resort we always make sure to spend at least some of our vacation time enjoying the two water parks. Walt Disney World® Resort water parks are really amazing, the theming is fantastic and immersive and there are slides, exciting rides and water play areas for everyone in the family from toddlers to thrill seeking teens. The water parks at Walt Disney World® Resort are the perfect place to cool off and spend a splashing good time when the weather is hot in Florida.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park

The landscaping and theming at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is amazing; you really feel like you are stranded in secluded lagoon surrounded by a lush tropical paradise right after a crazy typhoon storm has hit the island leaving a shipwrecked boat hanging from the top of a mountain.

With its beautiful palm tree lined pristine beaches and lots of rides Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is great for the entire family. For the younger kids Ketchakiddee Creek provides 10 different activity areas with fun water features and kid-sized slides. Filled with thrilling water attractions like Crush ‘n’ Gusher Water Thrill Ride, one of the first water coaster thrill rides of its kind in Central Florida, along with twisting water slides and roaring streams Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park is also the perfect place for older kids. My thrill seeking tweens also love Humunga Kowabunga with its steep 5 story drop from Mount Mayday in the dark and Gangplank Falls where 4 passenger inner tubes jet down a 300-foot water slide through river rapids. You can even book surfing lessons available at an extra charge on select days before the park opens to the public and ride up to 6ft waves at the Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool, one of the largest outdoor wave pools in North America!

Miss Adventure Falls is the newest attraction. This raft water slide is an exciting water raft ride that families can experience together. Kids will love that you are transported to the top of the slide by the attraction’s conveyor belt, and at two minutes long it’s the longest ride in Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.

Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park

Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park has a really fun and unique theme: a snow-covered ski resort town which melted into an exciting water wonderland making it the perfect place for spending a snow day of waterpark fun! This water park offers plenty thrills as well as areas for smaller children but if you’re looking for an exciting good time with older kids Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is the best choice as it has more exhilarating slides, many of them with height restrictions. Slush Gusher and Downhill Double Dipper are some of my kids favorite thrill rides. Summit Plummet, one of the tallest and fastest freefall water rides in the world, is the ultimate thrill water slide!

My kids really enjoy riding the Chairlift up the mountain, where many of the slides are located; it’s not only more relaxing but they love to watch all of the slides and the water park’s awesome theme from above. My favorite attraction is Teamboat Springs; this is a water slide where the whole family can ride on a huge raft that seats up to six. It’s one of the few rides that we can enjoy all together and love to watch everyone’s faces as they slip and slide and scream with excitement. Cross Country Creek  lazy river encircles Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park making it a great way to get around; offering the opportunity to relax while you float down the river while still providing some exciting surprises like floating through a dark cave dripping frozen cold water.

For the second year Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park will be celebrating the “Frozen” Summer Games from May 26th through August 13th. During this special summer event you’ll be able join team Kristoff or team Olaf to compete on a variety of winter water games and activities. Some of the fun events include Ski Pole Limbo, Slide Races, Ice Pail Relays and the Snowball Toss. And for the first time you will have the opportunity to meet either Kristoff or Olaf at Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park and take a pictures with them! There will also be crafts and games for the whole family to participate in.
