The third annual Dove Self-Esteem Weekend, a nationwide effort to help girls develop a positive relationship with beauty, is taking place across the country from October 5 - 7. The bi-lingual program, with events in both English and Spanish, will be partnering with Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. and Boys & GIrls Clubs of America to build confidence in girls.
Dove found that 72 percent of girls feel tremendous pressures to be beautiful and only 11 percent of girls are comfortable using the word beautiful to describe themselves. (Crazy, right?) "Let's Talk" is the theme of this year's program.
Lydia Villa-Komaroff, one of Dove's real women role models and one of our "Inspiring Latinas" will be participating in the weekend's events. A Mexican-American molecular biologist, she was one of the first Latina women to earn a PhD in science.
Will you be participating?
