Spanish #2 Most Spoken Language In Pretty Much Every State

Slate.com

In not-so-shocking news, Slate has rolled out a series of maps identifying language patterns across the U.S. and Spanish takes the cake, ranking as the number two most-spoken language (after English) in... well, pretty much every state besides seven. The seven states include North Dakota (German), Louisiana (French), Vermont (French), New Hamphire (French), Maine (French), Hawaii (Tagalog) and Alaska (Yupik). Take a look at the map above for more info.

Slate delves a bit deeper, taking out Spanish and English from the equation to get what is the third most spoken language in each and every state. Some of them are surprising (French Creole in Florida?) and some, not so much (oh hey, German... everywhere.) See below. What do you think of these findings? Are any shocking to you?
