White House Says Number of Kids Crossing the Border is Way Down

Is the crisis calming down? According to Fox News Latino, White House officials say the number of unaccompanied minors from Central America crossing the border is going down sharply.

White House press secretary Josh Earnest says the daily average of children apprehended along the Rio Grande border was 150 in July, down from 355 in June. Earnest said the reason for the decline is not yet known, but credits the Obama administration with getting the message out to those of Central America that it is a dangerous trip which would likely end in deportation.

President Obama is meeting with presidents and officials from Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras on Friday to further discuss the border crossings.
