Cruz called Kaepernick a "rich, spoiled" athlete who doesn't realize "what an incredible blessing this country is."

He didn't stop there, either. The Texas senator also went in on President Barack Obama for standing with Kaepernick in his right to sit out.

"I gotta say I'm as disappoitned to see President Obama stand with Kaepernick and say 'that's right, disrespect the flag,'" Cruz said to a TMZ reporter outside of Reagan National Airport. "That's not the job of the president; the president should be standing up for America."

Cruz also said the president should be encouraging every American to honor the flag that so many have bled and died for and to honor the freedom it stands for.
