Ricky Martin will open for Michelle Obama in an event in Florida where the First Lady will speak to grassroots supporters. The event, which will be held in Orlando Park, will focus on getting all supporters out to the polls and encouraging them to get others to vote. Her speech will also focus on how far the country has come in the last four years under the leadership of her husband, President Barack Obama, and Vice President Joe Biden.
Martin will address the crowd before Michelle Obama. Martin has been a supporter of the Obama-Biden ticket, and has been an advocate for President Obama with campaign videos and public remarks. At a New York fundraiser, after Obama publicly supported gay marriage, Martin praised the president for that along with his foreign policy.
"We admire his courage, like the courage he showed last week in affirming his belief in marriage equality," Martin said, as reported by USA Today. "That is the kind of courage we expect from our president and that is why we support him. He knows we're in this together and that together we're stronger than divided. We elected the right president at the right time."
President Barack Obama will join Michelle Tuesday in Iowa.
