Katherine Archuleta to Become First Latina to Head the White House's OPM

President Barack Obama announced that he plans on nominating Katherine Archuleta as the Director of the Office of Personnel Management. If confirmed, the Colorado-native will be the first Latina to head this agency. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is in charge of managing the civil service of the federal government.

Archuleta has an impressive resume, which highlights her expertise in the world of politics. She was previously the national political director for Obama for America between 2011 and 2012. The University of Northern Colorado alum also held the post as Chief of Staff at the U.S. Department of Labor from 2009 to 2011, serving under Hilda Solis.

Obama said in a White House statement, “Katherine brings to the Office of Personnel Management broad experience and a deep commitment to recruiting and retaining a world-class workforce for the American people. I am grateful Katherine has agreed to serve, and I look forward to working with her in the coming years.”

Sounds like another Latina is about to make history!
