This year’s historic presidential election has had almost every big-name celebrity talking, but not the usually vocal Gina Rodriguez – at least until today. The Puerto Rican actress broke her silence in the biggest way possible: interviewing President Barack Obama.
The Jane the Virgin star teamed up with mitú for a campaign aimed at motivating Latinx voters to go to the polls on November 8. As part of the drive, Rodriguez sat down with POTUS to shatter some voting myths that discourage young people from placing their ballot.
“If you have a family member who maybe is undocumented, then you have an even greater reason to vote. ... part of what is important for Latino citizens is to make your voice heard because you're not just speaking for yourself; you're speaking for family members, friends, classmates of yours in school who may not have a voice, who can't legally vote,” Obama said.
