The husband recently told me that he wanted to buy a motorcycle. A motorcycle? What? Are you crazy or something? We’re having our first child. A motorcycle hardly seems appropriate and besides, when has he ever wanted a motorcycle? I worried. Was this some sort of midlife crisis?
Nope. It was much simpler than that. It was a calculated ploy. Ask for something major so that when he asked for what he ‘really’ wanted, it wouldn’t seem so bad.

I'm finally home from this year's amazing BlogHer conference in Chicago. I'm exhausted because attending the annual gathering of women bloggers is like trying to fit 50 years of wedded bliss into a four-day weekend: Amazing connections forged or strengthened. New friends. New information. New perspectives.

Congrats to my E! sister Kim Kardashian who, unless you’ve been living under a rock, had her baby two weeks ago. Two weeks ago, which was five weeks before she was actually due!
Panic sets in!
Of course I always knew that there would be a possibility that Baby Bean might decide to come early but now that I’m in the home stretch, ‘early’ is any time between now and his due date!
Cue the circus music because that’s the beat I’m going to these days.

Baby showers are awesome! There. I said it. I was torn. I felt a little guilty registering for gifts knowing that I was essentially asking my friends and family to buy me things. I was like a kid writing to Santa Claus:
Please buy me a stroller. It’s black and silver. It costs 100 dollars. Also, I know it’s expensive but a breast pump would be great, too. I’ve made buying me gifts easy. I’m registered at Babies"R"Us. I promise to be good for the rest of the year.

What’s in a name? A bunch of nonsense, that’s what. Just kidding. But no, seriously, we’re still scratching our heads at North West, the eccentric name Kim Kardashian and Kanye West chose for their already famous baby girl. But hey, at least she won't lose direction in life (hopefully) with a name like North.

When I came across this Huffington Post article yesterday about breast-feeding rates in Mexico dropping, in turn causing experts to refer to it as a "public health crisis," I had to pause for a minute and really think about this.
Was this really the proper use of the term crisis?
