Mexican heartthrob Gael García Bernal and his Argentian girlfriend Dolores Fonsi are expecting a baby boy, director Fernando Mereilles revealed during the premiere of his film Blindness (which stars Gael) at the Toronto Film Festival.
Gael followed up Fernando's slip by informing reporters that he felt "happiness" when he first got the news that he was going to be a father. "Everyone's reaction is the same. I'm glad like every father. I feel all right. Everything's good. Life is good."
His director, for one, thinks Gael will make a great dad. "He's a nice guy," Fernando says. "He's warm. That's all a dad needs to be, right? He's very loving. He has this energy...this love energy. He's going to be a great father. He's so excited. He’s really taking time to prepare himself. He's really looking forward to it."
Uhh, is it just us or is there something weird about Gael's comments on fatherhood? Maybe something's getting lost in translation, but for an actor as talented as him, we would think it would be easy to fake a little more excitement. Maybe he just needs to spend a little more time with his BFF Diego Luna's little boy Jerónimo to get comfortable with being a dad.
