Stephen Colbert Asks If Latinos Are "The New Negro"

Stephen Colbert is no stranger to political satire. On Monday night's episode of The Colbert Report, the controversial host invited Scott Douglas, the Executive Director of Greater Birmingham Ministries, to ring in on discrimination against Latinos in Alabama.

During the segment, Colbert introduced Douglas as someone who sees "anti-immigration as the civil rights issue of our time." Colbert jokingly asked whether Latinos are "the new Negro" in Alabama after the two discussed the state's new immigration law H.B.56, which went into effect this month. The law, similar to Arizona and Georgia's "paper please" bill, makes it a crime for undocumented immigrants to rent a house, enroll in college, and apply for a job.

Colbert has strongly opposed the new law and even testified before Congress about the issue. What are your thoughts on the subject?
