The bill, which passed last month, would offer a pathway to citizenship for many of the 11 million immigrants currenly in the U.S. illegaly. But the House has proposed that citizenship priority be given to DREAMers.
"I think that group of people — some call Dreamers — is a group that deserves perhaps the highest priority attention," said Rep. Bob Goodlatte at an immigration-related conference in California Monday. "They know no other country."
The House is not expected to pass any legislation before the August recess.
