National Council of La Raza Calls for Day of Action on DREAM Act

The National Council of La Raza has called for Tuesday, December 7, 2010 to be a day of action in support of the DREAM act. Many believe that a vote will come to congress this week regarding this legislation, which aims to provide a path to citizenship for undocumented youth.

The NCLR is encouraging DREAM act supporters to hold vigils in cities and towns across the country in a show of solidarity with immigrant youth on Tuesday. Every year, approximately 65,000 students graduate with no hope of pursuing higher education or serving in the military due to their status.

To get involved, join NCLR's phone campaign: call (866) 529-7628 and tell both of your senators and your representative to vote YES on the DREAM Act!

I'm a raging opinionista and I love to share my ramblings on everything from pop culture to food to stuff that makes me laugh & cry! I've worked in all types of media (TV, film, print) and was previously the online editor at Latina magazine before joining Mamás Latinas. On most nights you can find me working my way through my library of cookbooks or playing with my puppy Lola (my only child so far). I have a wonderful hubby who shares my passion for any and all kinds of travel. Together, we've formed a semi-professional wine drinking team.
