Jenni Rivera and daughter Janney "Chiquis" Marin may have faced some tough times before La Diva de la Banda’s tragic passing, but their love for each other was always present. Here's a retrospective of what occurred in the headlines before Jenni's tragic death. We send our thoughts and prayers to the Rivera family during this sensitive time.
Jenni and Chiquis made history as the first mother and daughter duo to grace a Latina cover in May 2011. In the issue, the regional Mexican singer commented on being a single mother of five children. “I draw strength from that. If I didn’t have these kids, I wouldn’t be who I am. I have to show them how to fight, how to love and how to make it in life. I’m going to leave them set,” she said.
In exchange, Chiquis also reflected on her relationship with her mother and how much she loves her. “My mom is my ride-or-die bitch, and I’m hers, ‘cause no matter what happens, we’re there for each other,” revealed Chiquis.
