10 Latinas Give Thanks Today

In the spirit of Thanksgiving today, we asked Latina’s readers on our Facebook page to tell us what they’re most thankful for. We all have something in mind. The outpouring of stories was both overwhelming and touching – thanks to those who responded.

While we couldn’t pick everyone’s comment, here's what ten Latinas had to share:

Jazmin Gonzalez: “I am grateful for Facebook. Although my family is miles away out in Mexico and Spain, I am grateful that through Facebook I can keep in touch with them – and for my family whom I love so much and my three daughters who give my life meaning. And God who blessed me with my 3 little girls.”

Doris Bernal: “I'm grateful for being a Latina – that with ups and downs I've still been able to succeed as a single mother, daughter, and friend. Most of all, thankful for having such a great family as my backbone.”

Karen Larin: “I'm really thankful that I have a great relationship with my ma and pa and that they are so supportive of me and all my choices. I am glad they are open to everything I have to say, even if it’s not always what they want to hear. As I have gotten older I have learned to appreciate all their consejos much more than when I was younger.”

Sophia Rivera: “I was told that our there was something wrong with our unborn baby in January, but in July we delivered a beautiful, healthy baby boy. This is the best Thanksgiving!!!”

Alicia Mata: “I'm thankful for the wonderful memories mi Mama left us! She was the rock of this family and now we get to share her Latin family traditions with our children! Bless her soul for allowing us to be her #1 priority!”

Wendy Castillo: “I am thankful that I have the capacity to love and forgive.”

Rebecca Zamudio: “I am most thankful for my very supportive family, because without them I never would have made it through the ultrasound program. I love you and cherish you.”

Maria Rodriguez: “I am thankful for my health, family, and for the ability to live in a free country. Thank you for Latina Magazine; A place where we get a voice.”

Jennifer Achtner Morales: “I am so thankful for starting a long-awaited new chapter in my life. This year I married (second marriage) a wonderful, caring, generous, amazing man. He not only accepts my son, (who has autism and severe food allergies) but cares for and loves him as if he is his own. We moved into our first home just before marrying and are so happy to have such a wonderful family life and new home. I am so lucky and blessed!”

Lulu Gaviria: “Plain as it gets... LIFE!!!!”
