It's never too late to go after a dream, and Elia Guzman de Estrada shows us that. The 99-year-old Mexican immigrant was recently sworn in as a U.S. citizen in Texas, reports KVEO newscenter.
"I am very emotional. I have so much joy that the emotion makes me cry," said Estrada.
Family members including daughters, granddaughters, grandsons and great-granddaughters joined Elia as she was given citizenship.
"We are very proud of grandmother. She never ceases to amaze us," said Silvia Ochoa, Guzman de Estrada's granddaughter. "We all wish to emulate her someday."
Guzman de Estrada was born in Mexico in 1914, first coming to the U.S. when she was two. She has traveled between the two countries for most of her life, before settling in the Texas town of Harlingen with her family.
