Whole Foods Revises Language Policy

Whole Foods Market has changed its employee language policy after a recent incident involving two employees being suspended for speaking Spanish. According to Fox News Latino, the organic supermarket chain’s Co-CEO Walter Robb said that the “unfortunate incident” prompted the company to revise a policy that “does not reflect and is not in alignment with the spirit of this company.”

As we previously reported, Whole Foods employee Bryan Baldizan and a female co-worker were suspended for a day for writing a letter after they were told that they were not allowed to speak Spanish to one another during work hours at a New Mexico location. Baldizan said she couldn’t believe it.

“All we did was say we didn't believe the policy was fair,” she said. “We only talk Spanish to each other about personal stuff, not work.”
