Venezuelan Woman Arrested for Trying to Smuggle Boyfriend in a Suitcase

Love makes people do crazy things.

Just ask Antonieta Robles Saouda. The 25-year-old venezolana attempted to break her boyfriend out of prison by stuffing him in a suitcase. She and her 6-year-old daughter went to visit the beau, Ibrain Jose Vargas Garcia, at the Jose Antonio Anzoategui prison in Venezuela, but when it was time to say “goodbye,” she instead placed her lover in the hot pink luggage.

The plan, as unbelievable as it seems, could have worked out. But the woman’s struggle to wheel the heavy suitcase out of the building caught the eye of some guards, who searched it and found one of their inmates.

Garcia, who was already serving an almost 10-year sentence for a car robbery, was sent right back to his cell, while Robles Saouda was arrested and her daughter sent into temporary custody by social services.
