Jury Selection for Trayvon Martin Case: All are Female

Legal experts said that it was unusual for the final selection of jurors to have been made up of all women, but what might be even more surprising in this racially charged case is that all but one of the jurors is white.

About 500 people were sent summonses for this case, and during selection, lawyers for the state and the defense sought to weed out any potential jurors who had already formed their opinions on this highly publicized case.

The jurors, who must remain anonymous for the duration of the trial, will be referred to in court only by number. They will be sequestered from Monday onward, when opening statements are scheduled to begin.

The Zimmerman trial is expected to last two to four weeks.
