Three kidnapping victims who disappeared at different times when they were teens a decade ago were rescued on Monday in Cleveland, Ohio. Amanda Berry, 27, Gina DeJesus, 23, and Michelle Knight, 32, were saved after a neighbor heard a cry for help from Berry and managed to kick down the door.
Berry then made a frantic call to the police and said, “I’ve been kidnapped, and I’ve been missing for 10 years. And I’m here! I’m free now!” Police also found a 6-year-old girl in the home, but they have not revealed her identity to the public or her connection to those in the home.
According to The Daily News, the police have taken three brothers into custody, including the homeowner, Ariel Castro, 52. He was identified as a school bus driver who was also arrested in 1993 for domestic violence, but the grand jury later dropped the case after he pled guilty to disorderly conduct.
