Terrible Restoration Painting Helping Charity & Spanish Town

An elderly Spanish woman took it up upon herself to restore a damaged 19th century painting of Christ, “Ecce Homo.”

Cecilia Gimenez’s, 81, attempt to restore the famous painting attracted a lot of attention last year and has drawn more than 40,000 tourists to see the painting in person.

Tourists pay $1.30 to view the piece of art, helping to raise more than $60,000 for a local charity, according to msn news. Gimenez and the local council of Borja will share the profits from a merchandizing deal that will reproduce the piece of art on plates, cigarette lighters, postcards and more.

“Now it seems like everyone’s happy,” said Gimenez to msn news
