For those who may not be aware, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz currently holds dual citizenship in Canada and the United States.
According to Fox News Latino, the Senator announced on Monday that he will be renouncing his Canadian citizenship.
This decision comes after a renewed debate over whether or not his Canadian birth could disqualify him from becoming a U.S. presidential candidate in the future.
Fox News Latino reports that Cruz released a copy of his birth certificate to the Dallas Morning News. The Dallas newspaper reported that U.S. law requires that someone born outside the United States have at least one parent who is a U.S. citizen and has lived in the United States for no less than 10 years.
