Students and Teachers Celebrate After Electricity is Finally Restored in San Juan School

On January 12th, children and teachers from The Academia Bautista de Puerto Nuevo in San Juan had a reason to celebrate after getting electricity back for the first time since Hurricane Maria struck the island.

According to the school, electricity was restored after 112 days. In a video shared on Facebook students are seen jumping for joy in different classrooms as teachers rang bells to celebrate the return of electricity to the school. 

Almost four months after the category 5 hurricane struck many schools still remain without power in Puerto Rico.
