This Latino is Running Cross Country to Raise Awareness for Underprivileged Youth

Last month, runner and award-winning filmmaker Carlos Ibarra set out with five other filmmakers to capture a young man's journey as he runs 3,000 miles across America. His trek, which began in Brooklyn, NY, and will finish in Newport Beach, CA, is for a project called Run Carlos Run.

Ibarra’s story and upbringing are what motivates every step on his journey. Born in Mexico, Ibarra, 29, struggled during his move to a unknown country. He also experienced financial difficulties when having to pay for college and successfully execute tasks as a filmmaker.

Through Run Carlos Run, Carlos and his team hope to inspire people by raising money for organizations that support underprivileged youth. He also hopes to raise money for students and aspiring artists suffering from student loan debt. The team will be on the road for over two months, and will post a weekly documentary web series as they travel. They also plan to shoot a narrative short film written by Ibarra.
