New Line of Revolutionary Action Figures Created by Venezuelan Family

Father and daughter team Angel and Joyce Parra have teamed up to create a different kind of action figure. Angel, a 58-year-old painter and socialist told the NY Daily News that he was inspired by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez to create a line of toys about the revolutionary heroes of the country.

Mexican Drug Lord Makes it to Forbes’s List of Billionaires

Forbes’s annual list of the World’s Billionaires, which was released yesterday, included among its 793 privileged names the head of Mexico’s powerful Sinaloa Cartel, Joaquín Guzmán Loera, who falls in at number 701. (Another mexicano, Carlos Slim Helú, was at number 3 down from the second spot last year.) This year, the talked-about Forbes list was down by 332 billionaires, from 1,125 in 2008—this economy spares no one.

Obama Considers Moving Troops to Mexico Border

He admitted that he has been weighing the possibility of moving National Guard troops to the border in an effort to contain the violence but ruled out immediate military action.

Excommunicated Doctor Hailed As Hero at Women's Health Conference

Brazilian Minister of Health Jose Gomes Temporao called on those in attendance at a national convention on women's health he hosted to acknowledge the "brilliant" work of the team of doctors who helped a 9-year-old girl abort twins. The doctor received a standing ovation.
