Reuters reports that the LCWR’s leaders met with Archbishop Gerhard Ludwig Mueller, the new head of the Vatican's doctrinal department, and Archbishop Peter Sartain of Seattle, on Monday. According to the news outlet, Archbishop Peter Sartain has been tasked with correcting the group’s failings, as seen by the Church.
According to a statement by the Vatican, Archbishop Mueller informed the LCWR leaders that he had recently discussed the doctrinal assessment with the new Pope, “who reaffirmed the findings of the assessment and the program of reform.”
Last April, the LCWR was also criticized by the doctrinal department for challenging bishops and for being “silent on the right to life.”
