In addition to his statements on the gay community, Pope Francis also addressed the issue of the church allowing women to become priests.
“But with regards to the ordination of women, the Church has spoken and says 'no'. Pope John Paul said so with a formula that was definitive,” Pope Francis said. “That door is closed.” The late Pope John Paul said the ban on women becoming priests was part of the Catholic Church’s teachings.
