A photographer trailing Justin Bieber's Ferrari was killed in an accident as he crossed a busy highway to snap pictures. Bieber was not in the car, which was reportedly driven by friend and rapper Lil Twist.
The photographer, identified by TMZ as 29-year-old Chris Guerra, was struck by an SUV around 6 p.m. on Tuesday after crossing the Sepulveda Boulevard when an officer directed him back to his own vehicle. Guerra had originally crossed the highway to shoot pictures of the Ferrari.
He was taken to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center where he later died. Guerra was an L.A.-based freelance photographer.
Bieber released a statement after hearing about the tragedy: "While I was not present nor directly involved with this tragic accident, my thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim. Hopefully this tragedy will finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever other necessary steps to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders and the photographers themselves."
Bieber and Lil Twist had reportedly just landed in Los Angeles after returning from New Year's celebrations in Puerto Vallarta with Selena Gomez.
