Denise Bidot, Kathleen Fuentes and Diana Saldana have posted their horror on social media after 84 people were killed. The attack started after a large truck started mowing down people on the Promenade des Anglais, a seaside street that was filled with people due to the Bastille Day celebrations. The attack didn't stop until police officers shot and killed the driver.

"Wow! The world is just insane lately. The crazy part is I was supposed to be flying to Nice yesterday but my plans changed because I booked work in London. Still in shock. #prayforNice," Bidot captioned a photo on Instagram.

The man believed to have committed the attack was Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, a delivery-truck diver that was raised in Tunisia but moved to France more than 10 years ago. The 31-year-old had a history of burglary and theft but he was never part of a French database of suspected radicalized militants, according to the New York Times

“We will not give in to the terrorist threat,” Prime Minister Manuel Valls said. “The times have changed, and France is going to have to live with terrorism.”

French President François Hollande had just announced on Thursday that the state of emergency would be lifted soon after the January and Nov. 13 attacks in and around Paris but after these attacks the order will be extended for three months.

“The horror, the horror has, once again, hit France,” Hollande said. “France has been struck on the day of her national holiday. Human rights are denied by fanatics, and France is clearly their target.”
