Bride-to-Be and 4 Others Killed in Limo Fire

A bride-to-be and eight of her friends were celebrating a girls’ night out when suddenly their stretch limo went into flames while on a San Francisco Bay bridge Saturday night. One of the passengers complained about smelling smoke. By the time the driver pulled over and got out, the ride was in flames. Five of the nine women were trapped inside and died at the scene, including bride-to-be, Neriza Fojas.

Four friends managed to escape by squeezing through the limo’s partition. They were treated at nearby hospitals for burns and smoke inhalation, and two were listed in critical condition: Mary G. Guardiano, 42, Jasmine Desguia, 34, Nelia Arrellano, 36, Amalia Loyola, 48.

Firefighters found the remaining five victims huddled near the partition. “My guess would be they were trying to get away from the fire and use that window opening as an escape route," San Mateo County Coroner Robert Foucrault said to the AP.
