According to the arrest report, Heidy Rios was booked into the Jefferson Parish jail on a charge of cruelty to a juvenile. The incident occurred when the 24-year-old got into an argument with the baby's father on Thanksgiving day. Rio's boyfriend told authorities, she grabbed the three-week-old baby and threw him at his feet, yelling, "take your f***ing son."

Authorities were informed about the incident after the father took the newborn to the Children's Hospital in New Orleans on Thursday and the 26-day-old baby was diagnosed with a fracture of his right temporal bone.

According to Nola, the mother was taken in the next morning and denied ever holding the baby in her arms during the heated altercation with the boy's father. However, her story changed once a "neutral" witness told investigators Rios was holding her son during the argument.
