There’s a new Latina in the White House; according to Mediabistro, First Lady Michelle Obama has chosen Maria Cristina González Noguera as her new Communications Director. Known as MC, the native of San Juan, Puerto Rico begins her new job on July and will replace Kristina Schake.
In a statement, the First Lady described Schake as having “an essential and valued advisor to me over the past two and a half years. Her expertise in strategic planning and her creativity have been invaluable not just to me but to the entire Administration and I am truly grateful for her leadership and counsel.”
Obama said her outgoing Communications Director will leave big shoes to fill and that González Noguera “brings a fresh perspective and a wealth of expertise that will make her an incredible asset to our team.”
