Miami Politician Fires Aide Over Offensive Tweets

Suarez said that he was not immediately aware of Haramboure's tweets as he does not follow her from his own Twitter account. But once he found out, he approached his aide.

“She admitted and took responsibility for the messages,” Suarez said. “This is not the way we treat constituents.”

Haramboure offered to resign, but Suarez did not immediately accept her resignation. A day later, after the controversy grew, he fired her.
