After the Senate voted on Monday to back an amendment for the immigration reform bill currently being debated which would increase the amount of security currently at U.S. borders, Mexico quickly voiced their concerns.

The Huffington Post reports that the Mexican government believe the measures are divisive and would not solve the problem of illegal immigration. Immigration plays a big part in the two countries' bilateral relations.

"Our country has let the United States government know that measures which affect links between communities depart from the principles of shared responsibility and good neighborliness," said Foreign Minister Jose Antonio Meade in a televised statement.
