Mexican Congresswoman Gives Strangest Argument Against Gay Marriage

Ana Maria Jimenez Ortiz has set her stance on gay marriage.

According to The Huffington Post, during a marriage equality forum called "Matrimonio Igualitario" in Puebla, Mexico this month, the conservative Mexican Congresswoman gave her reasoning as to why same sex couples should not marry.

"A marriage should only be considered amongst people that can look at each other in the eye while having sexual intercourse," said Jimenez Ortiz at the event. "Something that does not happen in homosexual couples."

The Latin Times reports that Jimenez Ortiz was citing the "New Family Structures" study conducted at the University of Texas. The study claims that that children adopted by gay couples have a tendency to become an adult that is closer to drugs and depression.
