Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony continue to offer to support to families who’ve been affected by recent natural disasters. Two days ago, the triple threat donated $1 million to help the recovery plans in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.
Now Lopez and Anthony have created Somos Una Voz (We Are One Voice), a humanitarian initiative bringing celebs together from the entertainment and sports worlds to use their considerable social influence to be a powerful voice of hope. These celebs are committed to rushing food, medicine, power, shelter, and communications to those in need due to because of the unforgiving hurricanes. The roster of artists is pretty impressive. This list includes Alex Rodriguez, Jada Pinkett Smith, Bruno Mars, Pitbull, Luis Fonsi and more.
Yesterday, Somos Una Voz launched a GoFundMe campaign, which at the time of this writing has fundraised more than $130,000 by almost 3,000 people. This alliance is good news considering that critics have complained that Trump hasn't responded quickly enough to the devastation caused by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.
“This is going to be Mr. Trump’s Katrina,” said Puerto Rican native and New York Democratic Representative Nydia Velazquez on CNN. “We need to spend less time putting out tweets and more time ending the humanitarian crisis on the island.”
Although Anthony tweeted that Trump should “shut the f**k up about the NFL and do something about our people in need in #PuertoRico.” He’s not waiting for 45 to send aid. On Good Morning America, the salsa singer and one of the island’s beloved sons, said, "If anybody is listening, just know that we are coming, just know that we care. We are here, ready, willing and able."
