Man With Legs Taken by Mexican Drug Cartel Cycles for Asylum

“Carlos’ story is emblematic of what many people in Mexico are going through right now.”

Two years later, Gutiérrez is not letting this stop him from his biggest goal: Raising awareness about the ongoing violence those living in Mexico face through a campaign called "Pedaling for Justice."

With the help of prosthetic legs, the 35-year-old Mexican is cycling 670 miles to push for Mexico to implement a "Rule of Law" so that other families don't come face-to-face with what he did and be forced to flee their country.
